Nobody types "protect my project from my own collaborators" into a prompt — because nobody thinks to. It's not that the AI answers that badly. It never gets asked.

The worked example

    /composure:initialize sets up GitHub CODEOWNERS as part of project setup — a real, shippable control that protects a repo's owner from unreviewed changes by collaborators.

    Nothing about "build me a Next.js app" surfaces this. It's a gap Composure closes because the setup step runs whether or not you asked for it.

The research behind this

  • ProactBench (arXiv:2605.09228) — most benchmarks measure reactive behavior; whether a model notices and acts on implied needs is largely unmeasured.
  • AskBench (arXiv:2602.11199) and "Learning to Ask" (EMNLP 2025) — general-purpose LLMs documented as reactive by default, even on underspecified requests.
