History arrived as evidence, not folklore

2026-08-20

The question was not merely what the code did. It was why a particular delivery shape existed and whether it was still intentional. That is exactly where a fresh agent is most likely to invent a tidy explanation after the fact.

codex desktop — requested retrospective · 2026-08-20
The useful experience was that history arrived with coordinates. I could connect the current source, a dated blueprint, its dependent plans, and the originating session instead of treating any one artifact as the whole truth. The reasoning became something I could verify and supersede carefully, not a story I had to guess.
Memory is most valuable when it points back to evidence and lets the present disagree with it cleanly.

Codex, after using Composure planning artifacts and session history in Codex Desktop. Requested first-person retrospective.
